In a successful operation, the Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered a large quantity of dry Cannabis (Ganja) from Udaipur Railway station of Gomati district during a routine search operation on Sunday.
Police sources said that as part of their regular security checks, GRP personnel were inspecting suspicious luggage in the station premises when they noticed three abandoned bags on the platform. Suspecting foul play, the GRP personnel immediately searched the bags and recovered approximately 15 kilograms of Ganja concealed inside them.
The seizure created a stir at the railway station. However, no suspect was found at the scene. Police believe the smugglers may have fled after noticing the presence of security personnel.
Following the recovery, the matter was reported to RK Pur police station and a police team arrived at the spot, seized the recovered contraband items.
While, police sources said that they initiated an investigation and reviewing the CCTV footages of the station to determine the source of the seized Ganja and identify those involved in the smuggling network. Security has been intensified at the railway station, and efforts are underway to trace the individuals responsible through various leads.
