Lightning struck Mungiakami jungles, killed a wild elephant

The incessant heavy rainfall and thundershowers during past 48-hours, which has caused tremendous suffering across Tripura and killed an elephant in interior parts of Maharani under Khowai district on Friday due to lightning.
Sources said that during heavy rainfall on Friday morning, thunderstorms with lightning have also struck the jungles at South Maharani ADC village areas of Mungiakami RD Block under Khowai district and killed a wild elephant.
Local villagers noticed the incident and they informed the authorities of the Forest department and when on Friday afternoon, a team of Forest officials along with veterinary doctors rushed to the spot and they found that jumbo already dead.
The veterinary team of the Forest department after autopsy ascertained that the Jumbo killed by lightning struck and they buried the dead elephant in the jungle.
