In order to ensure free and fair Lok Sabha elections at West Tripura parliamentary constituency on April 19 next, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is taking every step for seamless election process with participation of every voter.

The Commission has already appointed observers including General Observer, expenditure observer and police observers for both parliamentary constituencies of Tripura and the observers with other top poll officials are now conducting regular meetings and reviewing the preparedness for polls.

On Saturday a meeting convened at the conference hall of the District Magistrate and Collector’s office in West District to ensure the seamless execution of the West Tripura parliamentary constituency’s elections, which has been chaired by Vivek A Vimanwar, the General Observer of 1-Tripura West Parliamentary Constituency, , which has addressed crucial factors  of the election management.

The meeting attended by Expenditure Observer Pradeep Sharma and Police Observer Ram Kumar with all nodal officers in presence of Returning Officer (RO) Dr Vishal Kumar has stressed on various issues to ensure free and fair elections.

The meeting highlighted the responsibilities of nodal officers, the general observer Vivek A Vimanwar discussed the appointment of micro observers, presiding officers, and polling officers, as well as scrutiny of polling station infrastructure and polling vehicles. Vimanwar also highlighted the role of poll officials for perfectly completing the greatest festival of democracy and has also stressed the impartial role of poll officials for free and fair elections.

The West Tripura parliamentary constituency has 790 polling stations and election observers highlighting the role of poll officials has directed all the officials present in the meeting to maintain peace, free and fair election process.

During the meeting, RO of West Tripura PC ,Dr. Vishal Kumar and  14 Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) and 16 nodal officers participated in the election preparations.

Apart from this, another training camp was conducted for micro observers on Saturday at Agartala Town Hall in presence of General Observer Vivek A Vimanwar and other officials.

Vimanwar addressing the meeting underscored the Election Commission’s commitment to conducting elections in a fair and peaceful manner. Recognizing the logistical challenges, he highlighted the crucial role of micro observers in ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.

Vimanwar elaborated on the Election Commission’s strategy, wherein General Observers oversee Lok Sabha constituencies, whereas the micro observers have been entrusted the task of every polling station.

Vimanwar said that if there is foul play during the election process, the role of each micro observer is very crucial for a decision of Commission regarding re-polling over the observations and recommendations provided by micro observers. During training camp, all micro observers appointed by the ECI for West Tripura PC were present.
