In a major anti-theft operation by Agartala city police continued for past two months has recovered huge quantities of stolen items including gold jewelleries worth Rs. 1.25 crore and has arrested 18 notorious thieves and handed on Tuesday handed over these stolen items to its owners in a programme held at East Agartala police station on Tuesday.
Giving details, SP(West Tripura), Kiran Kumar said that during past two months, the police personnel of East Agartala police station led by OC Rana Chatterjee acting on different theft complaints has swiftly arrested altogether 18 notorious thieves, who are now in jail custody and had recovered huge quantities of stolen items under their possessions,.
The items recovered in the operation included gold jewelleries of 400 grams, seven motorcycles, one scooty, one car and van, 3 gas cylinders, 4 mobile sets and cash amount of Rs. 67,000.
Kumar said that based on the orders of the court, the East Agartala police station has handed over all stolen goods to rightful owners on Tuesday.
Praising the efforts of East Agartala police station, Kumar said that police committed to stopping any kind of drug abuses and crimes including stolen incidents in and around the city.
Chief Minister Dr Mani Saha through his social media messages appreciated the police personnel for their dedication and hard work in rebuilding public trust.
“Justice served! Agartala East PS handed over stolen goods to rightful owners as per court order. Kudos to the police personnel for their dedication & hard work in rebuilding public trust,” said the Chief Minister.
