Mass protest against violence on women continues across Agartala

After healthcare services have been severely affected across Tripura  due to a nationwide strike called by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Saturday over the ghastly incident of rape and murder of a woman doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, the protest rallies against the incident have continued across Agartala on Sunday also and many organizations and youths through peaceful demonstrations  demanding enhanced safety and security for women in the region organized mass rallies.

A significant candlelight protest against violence on women was organized in front of Ujjayanta palace, College Tilla, Lake Side by youths,  Fitness Explosion Gym in collaboration with Lions Club of Agartala Anish and Hub of Fitness Gym.

These events saw active participation from local residents, who united in a peaceful demonstration to demand enhanced safety and security for women in the region and protest rallies that also passed various thoroughfares of Agartala city.

The protest, which drew a substantial crowd, emphasized the urgent need for society to recognize the collective responsibility of protecting women.

Participants carried placards with messages advocating for women's safety and chanted slogans urging authorities to take stronger measures against gender-based violence. They urged justice for rape victims and a safe society for everyone.

The organizers, including the Fitness Explosion Gym, Lions Club of Agartala Anish, and Hub of Fitness Gym, expressed their concerns about the rising incidents of violence against women.

They highlighted that while individual efforts are essential, the protection of women should be seen as a shared responsibility involving every community member.

"We are here today to raise our voices against the violence that women in our society continue to face. It is not just a women's issue; it is a human issue. Every one of us has a role to play in ensuring that women feel safe and secure in their homes, workplaces, and public spaces," said one of the organizers.

The protest at College Tilla, Lake Side, was marked by its peaceful nature, with participants calling for justice and more robust legal frameworks to prevent violence against women.

The event concluded with a pledge by all attendees to continue their efforts in raising awareness and advocating for the rights and safety of women.

This protest adds to the growing demand across the country for greater accountability and action in addressing the persistent issue of violence against women.
