A 15-year-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Chhotakhil- Bijaynagar under Sabroom police station in South Tripura, prompting a police investigation. While preliminary findings suggest that the girl may have died by suicide, authorities have stated that the exact cause of death will be determined only after a thorough investigation.

The deceased has been identified as Apsara Gar (15), a Class X student of Bijaynagar Higher Secondary School. She was the daughter of Sukanta Gar.

According to police, Sabroom police station received information about an unnatural death from Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital on Tuesday night. Based on the information received from the hospital and the circumstances of the incident, police launched an investigation.

The body has been kept at the morgue of Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Considering the seriousness of the case, a forensic team from the district headquarters in Belonia visited the scene and began collecting evidence to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death.

Speaking to reporters, SI Kanu Ranjan Deb of Sabroom police station said that police received information about the unnatural death from Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital on Tuesday night, following which an investigation was initiated. He added that the forensic team from Belonia had inspected the scene, and the exact cause of death would be confirmed only after the post-mortem report and forensic examination are completed.

Police have urged the public not to speculate about the incident, stating that no definitive conclusion regarding the cause of death can be drawn until the investigation is complete.
