Minor girl raped by two youths on her way to a wedding in Kadamtala

One miscreant was arrested by police for raping a 14-years old minor girl under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO) at Kadamtala area under North Tripura district on Sunday.

Police sources said that on Saturday night, around 8 pm, a 14-year-old girl studying in class 7 was forcibly taken away by two miscreants, who was going to a wedding function at a nearby house, and raped her multiple times in the newly built hostel of Kurti Madrasa.

One  Imran Hossain (35) of Dheubari area of ward number 3 of Kurti Gram Panchayat under Kadamtala police station and a 16-year-old boy were accused of raping her multiple times in the newly built hostel of Kurti Madrasa.

When the incident came to light, the mother of the victim girl filed an FIR at Kadamtala police station and police registered the case under sections 137(2), 70(2), 3(5) of POCSO Act and arrested main accused Imran Hussain.

 The victim's mother said that her husband lives in Dimapur outside the state due to work. So she lives alone at home with her son and daughter. On Saturday night, while she was on her way to a wedding function of a close relative, her 14-year-old girl was taken away and brutally tortured by these two accused persons for a half hour. When her daughter returned home and told her everything, she went to the police station. She filed a written complaint with the name of the victim.

Meanwhile, the accused threatened the minor and said that if she told anyone about the incident , then they would expose her through social media. The victim's mother has appealed for a fair trial in the entire incident.

Local village sources said that after the incident they heard the cries of the minor girl, later the victim girl and her mother narrated the entire incident.

Villagers managed to detain accused Imran Hossain from the spot and handed him over to the police station, but another accused, a sixteen-year-old minor, managed to escape from the spot.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kadamtala police station Jayant Debnath said that after receiving a complaint of rape, a case has been registered under Section 137(2)/70(2)/3(5) of the POCSO Act an investigation has been started.

He said that arrested  Imran Hossain  was produced before a local court and court sent him judicial custody up to April 17 next and steps have been taken to arrest another accused. OC also said that medical examinations of the victim girl have also been completed and police will take all legal steps to give justice to the victim minor girl.
