MMD College, Sabroom celebrates World Environment Day

Michael Madhusudhan Dutta (MMD) College of Sabroom under South Tripura district on Wednesday celebrated World Environment Day with the theme: "Our Strength, Our Planet," highlighting the importance of environmental and natural conservation.

Since 1970, this day has been observed worldwide to raise awareness about pollution prevention, tree planting and reducing plastic usage. The event was presided over by Dr. Anupam Guha, principal of MMD College. Dr. Arup Patari, NSS program officer along with other faculty members and students attended the event.

 Dr. Arup Patari, in his welcome speech, emphasized the need for individual and collective efforts to protect Earth and nature, including planting trees, minimizing the wastage of natural resources and adopting environmentally friendly habits. He urged every member of the college NSS unit to participate actively.

 Dr Anupam Guha stated that addressing climate change, promoting sustainable lifestyles and conserving forests should be the primary goals of current times. He called upon everyone to come forward collectively. The program concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Kamal Acharya. The ceremony concluded with the planting of saplings.
