MoUs of Central Sanskrit Universities will become a milestone – Prof Srinivas Varkhedi

A two-day meeting from March 10 to 11, 2025 of the three Central  Universities namely Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, National Sanskrit University, Tirupati & LBS National Sanskrit University, New Delhi was successfully organized at National Sanskrit University, Tirupati during which an MoU was signed for effective collaboration on academic and administrative arena from the perspective of NEP-2020.

The discussions focused on the implementation of NEP 2020, standardization of UG and PG curricula, exchange of library and knowledge resources, formulation of uniform research guidelines, and the facilitation of joint degrees and student mobility. Additionally, faculty exchange programs, the global promotion of Sanskrit through mutual cooperation, and the recognition of online courses were also key points of deliberation. Other significant topics included associate research initiatives, the planning of Utkarsh Mahotsav, the implementation strategy for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the organization of All India Regional Socio-Educational Competitions, scholarship provisions, and quality enhancement measures aimed at improving the universities’ rankings at both national and international levels.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Srinivas Varkhedi, Vice-Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, along with Prof.Murali Manohar Pathak, Prof. GSR Krishnamurthy, Prof. RG Muralikrishna, Examination Controller Prof.Pawan Kumar, Academic Dean Prof.MadanmohanJha, and deans and senior officials from all three Central Sanskrit Universities. During the discussions, the Vice-Chancellors, Deans, and top officials extensively analyzed various academic and administrative aspects and reached a consensus on their implementation.

Prof. Srinivas Varkhedi, Vice-Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, emphasized that maintaining high educational standards, fostering collaborative research, and demonstrating a unified commitment to Sanskrit’s rich heritage are the pillars of this initiative. He stated that the MoU would streamline resource sharing, facilitate student and faculty exchange programs, and mark a new chapter of collaborative excellence by ensuring the effective implementation of joint initiatives across all three institutions. Highlighting the importance of skill development, he stressed the need to make traditional courses more employment-oriented while integrating research-driven innovations. He underlined the necessity of teamwork in building a world-class Sanskrit university and urged all institutions to work collectively towards this vision.

Prof. Varkhedi also pointed out that, considering the global scenario, Sanskrit universities must align their efforts with international expectations. He called for collaboration with local and small-scale industries to enhance student skill development, facilitate internship programs, conduct refresher courses, and provide teacher training to ensure that faculty remain updated in their fields. This, he noted, would not only attract students to Sanskrit education but also improve the overall quality of academics. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of signing MoUs with other universities to elevate the quality of higher education, introduce innovative measures for livelihood, and incorporate new research areas to contribute to the vision of a Developed India.

Prof. GSR Krishnamurthy, Vice-Chancellor of National Sanskrit University, and Prof. Murali Manohar Pathak, Vice-Chancellor of Shri LalBahadurShastri National Sanskrit University, shared insights on the implementation of NEP 2020 and various academic innovations introduced in their respective institutions. The meeting also witnessed the presence of several distinguished academicians, including Prof.SarvnarayanJha, Prof.Sudesh Kumar Sharma, Prof.BanmaliBishwal, Prof.Lalit Kumar Tripathi, Prof.Ramakant Pandey, Prof.Lalit Kumar Sahu, Prof. PV Subramaniam, Prof. Narayan Simha, Prof.Madhukeshwar Bhatt, and Dr. D. Dayanath. The discussions concluded with a strong commitment to advancing Sanskrit education and fostering collaborative excellence among the three Central Sanskrit Universities.
