Train services on the Lumding–Badarpur Hill Section have been severely affected following the settlement of railway tracks near New Harangajao station, prompting the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) to cancel, reschedule, and regulate several passenger trains as a safety measure.
According to an official statement issued by the NFR, train operations on Line-1 and Line-2 were disrupted due to track settlement. At present, all train movements are being routed through Line-3 under strict monitoring with enhanced safety precautions.
To ensure passenger safety, NFR has suspended the operation of passenger-carrying trains through the affected section during night hours, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM. During daytime, trains are being allowed to pass through the section under regulated conditions with continuous monitoring.
As a result, several trains have been cancelled, including the Guwahati–Dullabcherra Express (15617), Dullabcherra–Guwahati Express (15618), Guwahati–Silchar Express (15615), and Silchar–Guwahati Express (15616) on specified dates.
Several other services have been rescheduled, including the Narangi–Agartala Express (15650), Agartala–Narangi Express (15649), Guwahati–Sairang Express (15609), Sairang–Guwahati Express (15610), Agartala–Deoghar Express (15626), Rangiya–Silchar Express (15611), Silchar–Rangiya Express (15612), and the Agartala–Rani Kamalapati Special (01666), with revised departure timings ranging between 9:30 PM and 11:30 PM.
In addition, the SMVT Bengaluru–Agartala Express (12503), which commenced its journey on July 24, will be regulated en route as per operational requirements.
NFR said railway personnel, engineering teams, and heavy machinery have been deployed on a war footing to restore the affected track section at the earliest. The railway administration expressed hope that normal train operations would resume as soon as restoration work is completed safely.
