Niharika publisher releases its Puja Edition

After earning praise for 12 consecutive years of creative publishing, the state’s leading publishing house, ‘Niharika’, has now presented readers with its much-anticipated annual Durga-Puja edition.
On Wednesday, at the Dakshini Griha of Tripura Rabindra Parishad in Agartala, the Durga-Puja edition was officially unveiled by former Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court, Subhasis Talapatra; former Advocate General of Tripura, Siddhartha Shankar Dey; and Cluster General Manager of Hotel Polo Towers, Gunjan Kumar.
In the presence of a host of devoted writers from Tripura and the world of Bengali literature, the event quite literally signaled the festive season’s arrival. Tripura has a long-standing tradition of literature centered around Durga Puja. Nearly every club, organization, and institution in the state publishes Puja Edition or commemorative editions during the Sharod Utsav (Durga Puja festival). These literary magazines—enriched by the works of both new and veteran authors—keep the spirit of intellectual and cultural engagement alive in Tripura. It is often found that the very first published works of many now-renowned writers appeared in such local Puja editions.
This year, as a worthy inheritor of that tradition, Niharika has taken itself to a new height. Their Puja Edition features contributions from celebrated Bengali literary figures such as Amar Mitra, Kishore Ranjan Dey, Sanmatrananda, and Binayak Bandyopadhyay. It also includes works by Tripura’s Bhavani Biswas and other young authors of her generation, along with almost all of the state’s established senior writers.
Beyond Tripura and West Bengal, the edition also includes contributions from eminent authors from Assam, Bangladesh, and the United States. Each piece is accompanied by beautiful and fitting illustrations, created by renowned artists from West Bengal, Tripura, and Bangladesh.
The diversity of themes is another highlight—ranging from short stories, poems, essays, free prose, rhymes, travelogues, comics, photo features, health, science, and drama—ensuring that Niharika’s Puja Edition will captivate readers of all types and ages.
The magazine is edited by Gopa Chattopadhyay, with Sanghita Sinha and Shantanu Chakraborty as associate editors.
