Regional Vedic conference inaugurated at Central Sanskrit University, Agartala
A three-day Regional Vedic Conference was inaugurated on Tuesday at the Ekalavya Campus of Central Sanskrit University in Agartala.
The conference is being jointly organized under the aegis of Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Vedavidya Pratishthan, Central Sanskrit University, Ekalavya Campus, and Bholananda Veda Vidyalaya. The inaugural session commenced on Tuesday morning with traditional Vedic chanting by scholars, followed by the National Anthem and Kulageet.
The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Prakash Ranjan Mishra, Coordinator, Veda Karmakanda Purohitya Vidyashakha, Ekalavya Campus, Agartala. He welcomed the guests, scholars, and participants, and underscored the importance of preserving and promoting the Vedic tradition.
Prof Kameshwar Shukla, Head of the Department of Sanskrit at Gauhati University, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the relevance of Vedic knowledge in contemporary society and its role in strengthening cultural and spiritual values. He also appreciated the initiative of the organizers for providing a platform for scholarly deliberations on Vedic studies.
The Special Guest, Virupaksh V. Jaddipal, Secretary of Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Vedavidya Pratishthan, Ujjain, spoke about the institution’s efforts to promote Vedic education across the country and encouraged scholars and students to actively engage in research and dissemination of Vedic knowledge.
The presidential address was delivered by Makhlesh Kumar, Director of the Central Sanskrit University, Ekalavya Campus, Agartala. He emphasised the significance of such conferences in fostering academic exchange and strengthening Vedic heritage among scholars and students.
During the programme, the guests were felicitated by the Director. The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Ashish Mishra, Assistant Professor, Veda Karmakanda Purohitya Vidyashakha. The inaugural session was conducted by Dr. Nishant Mishra, Assistant Professor, who ensured its smooth coordination.
The Regional Vedic Conference will continue until February 19, featuring various academic sessions, discussions, and presentations by eminent scholars from different parts of the country.
