Resettlement of Bru migrants process rapidly going on, Punit Agarwal
As per agreement among Tripura, Mizoram, Central governments and Bru organizations, to rehabilitate of 6,302 Bru families in 11 designated spots across the state and the entire rehabilitation process is being going on as per the desire, the Bru families are also given all facilities in their choice of resettlement spot.
While, giving details of the present status of Bru resettlement, principal secretary of Revenue department Punit Agarwal addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat on Thursday afternoon said that the government has so far constructed 3,249 houses and in three installments, each Bru family were given Rs. 1.5 lakh each for house construction.
Agarwal said that the government has also given ROR, ration card, Aadhar card, ST certificate, PRTC, MGNREGA job card and EPIC to each Bru migrant family.
As per the agreement among Tripura, Mizoram, Central governments and Bru organizations, a historic decision has been taken to rehabilitate all Bru families in 11 designated spots across the state and the entire rehabilitation process should be completed at the earliest.
He appealed to the leaders of Bru organization to cooperate with government agencies to make the process faster.
Agarwal said that the state government has selected 11 locations, where 6,302 families of Bru migrants with a population of 37,136 will be resettled in the specified locations in different districts of the state.
It may be recalled here that over two decades after they escaped ethnic violence in Mamit, Kolasib and Lunglei districts of Mizoram, 32,000 Bru migrants are now being permanently resettled in Tripura after an agreement signed by the Union government, state governments of Tripura and Mizoram, and the Bru migrants, in January 2020 last.
Agarwal said that so far the leaders of Bru migrants are not provided the spot wise resettlement list for above 2000 families, but the resettlement process for the rest of Bru families is now going on rapidly in 11 designated spots of the state.
He said that so far the cleaning works of jungle in resettle areas, making the earth into plain land, construction of roads, infrastructures for drinking water and setting up of electricity connections, solar lighting systems, construction of toilets, schools, health sub-centre houses and common toilets are mostly completed.
As part of the assured government package, each resettled family would get 0.03 acre (1.5 ganda) of land for building a home, Rs 1.5 lakh as housing assistance, Rs 4 lakh as a one-time cash benefit for sustenance, monthly allowance of Rs 5,000 and free ration for two years from the date of resettlement. All the Bru migrants will be resettled in different spots of Dhalai, North Tripura, Gomati and South Tripura districts.
Meanwhile, Agarwal said that till date altogether 800 ‘Apada Mitra’ were given training for disaster management and Ham radio stations were also set up in state emergency operation centres including in 8 district emergency centres.
Three repeater stations were also set up in Dhalai , West Tripura and Gomati districts of the state, said Agarwal and added that these facilities will be very helpful to tackle any kind of possible disaster.
He also highlighted different kind of online facilities in Land Records and Settlement department and people are now able to file online application for mutation, to know the present status of the case revenue court, land demarcation, maps etc
During the press meet the special secretary of Revenue department Alinda Bhattacharjee, director of Land Records and Settlement department Ratnajit Debbarma and state project officer of Disaster Management Sarat Das were also present.
