Fatal road accidents continued across different parts of the state on Friday, claiming the life of a motorbike rider and leaving two others, including a five-year-old girl, critically injured in separate incidents in Sepahijala district.
In the first incident, two friends riding separate motorbikes were returning to Gholagati from Bishalgarh at high speed along the narrow Bishalgarh–Gholagati road. When they reached near Sepahijala Higher Secondary School in the evening, the bikes met with an accident, causing both riders to suffer serious injuries.
Local residents and firefighters immediately rushed to the spot and shifted the injured riders to Bishalgarh Hospital. One of the riders, identified as Subrata Bir of Jagannath Para, Gholagati, was declared dead by the attending doctor. The other rider is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
In another incident on Friday afternoon at Ganiamara under Sonamura, a speeding motorcycle hit a five-year-old girl, Jashmin Aktar, from behind. She sustained critical head injuries and was first taken to Sonamura Hospital. Due to the severity of her condition, she was later referred to GBP Hospital, Agartala for advanced treatment.
