SBI funded solar systems to Anganwadi centers, electric cars for TCA

The State Bank of India (SBI) Tripura region has stepped forward to support social welfare under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. At a ceremony held earlier today, SBI announced a contribution of Rs 38 lakh to install solar power systems in 40 Anganwadi centers across Tripura. In addition, the bank handed over a cheque of Rs 15.97 lakh to the Tripura Cricket Association for buying two electric cars.
SBI Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty was present at the event where he handed over the cheques to the Director of the Social Welfare Department and the president of the Tripura Cricket Association. While addressing the audience, Setty highlighted SBI’s ongoing commitment to social development alongside its banking services.
“We are deeply committed to creating lasting change in the societies we serve,” Setty remarked. He noted that SBI has built toilet facilities for over 1,200 schools and Anganwadi centers across India and has spent Rs 28 crore to improve infrastructure. He also emphasized the bank’s active CSR presence, with over 600 regional offices across 17 Mandals driving social welfare initiatives.
The event was attended by several dignitaries including NEDFI CMD Krishna Murthy, SBI Northeast Circle Head S. Radhakrishnan and Anganwadi workers who lauded the bank’s efforts in fostering sustainable development.
