At least seven people including a woman injured after a violent clash erupted on Wednesday night in Ward No. 1 of Hirachhara ADC Village under Gournagar RD Block of Unakoti district, disputing slaughter of a pet dog for consumption and the sale of its meat.

All injured individuals were admitted to Unakoti district hospital and some have critical multiple injuries.

Local sources claimed that Golap Chasha, his younger brother, and Sultan Ali were attacked with sharp weapons, resulting in severe injuries. They were admitted to the hospital with multiple critical injuries.

On the other hand, relatives of Pintu Das alleged that Rajaram Nuniya Munda and his associates attacked the house of Chandan Das. While trying to defend himself, Chandan Das and Sama Bauri sustained injuries. Reports say Chandan Das suffered serious injuries to his eye.

While, after receiving the report of the clash, a large number of police force from Kailashahar and Irani police stations, led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Jayanta Karmakar rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
