Six drug peddlers arrested with huge quantities of contraband items

The Anti-Drug operations by Tripura police have been continuing and with successive raids, police have seized huge quantities of contraband items and arrested six drug peddlers from different parts of the state during the past 24-hours.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of GRP station of Agartala Railway station, Tapash Das said that based on intelligence inputs in a joint operation conducted by Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Wednesday evening, four drug peddlers from Bihar state were arrested with huge quantities of dry Cannabis (Ganja) before their boarding to a long distance train.
He said that a police team has recovered a total of 37.615 kgs dry Ganja under their possessions of four passengers identified as Bipin Kumar (23), Goutam Kumar, Manish Kumar Mandal (28) and Smt. Durga Devi (40), all are residents of different districts of Bihar.
They were supposed to board a long distance train towards New Delhi with seized dry Ganja, said Das and added that all arrested drug peddlers were produced before a local court with police remand appeals in a case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 for further interrogation.
In another operation, based on a tip-off, police conducted a search in the area adjacent to Dharmanagar police station and seized 1,800 Yaba tablets from a high-speed battery-operated auto bearing registration number TR05A-2842.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dharmanagar police station, Sritikanta Bardhan, stated that the estimated black market value of the seized Yaba tablets is around Rs. 9 lakh rupees and arrested two drug peddlers Ashish Chakma and Bishal Chakma.
