Smuggling tobaccos inside central jail, TSR jawan caught red-handed

In a bizarre incident, the jail police personnel posted at Central jail in Bishalgarh subdivision caught a TSR jawan smuggling tobacco inside the jail complex.
Sources said that one TSR jawan Anjan Das of 11th battalion, posted as a jail guard was caught red-handed by some jail police personnel with bundles of ‘Bidis’ (Tobacco) hidden inside his body, which were supposed to be delivered to the inmates of the central jail.
When jail police personnel witnessed his suspected movements, they caught him and in the course of searching inside his body, they found about 25 to 30 packets of ‘Bidis’.
Later, jail police handed over him to local police for further legal actions.
While, after circulated video of the smuggling of tobacco inside jail premises, the SDM of Bishalgarh Rakesh Chakraborty who is also now the ex officio superintendent of central jail has ordered an emergency time-bound inquiry into the incident. This inquiry will be conducted by the deputy superintendent of jail. In the meantime the SDM has ordered the closing of TSR jawan Anjan Das from jail duty.
Sources said that there were a lot of allegations against jail staff including police and TSR jawans on deputation in central jail over smuggling different narcotic items inside the jail complex.
