All the banks functioning in Tripura will extend their helping hands towards flood affected families of the state and banks will organize special credit delivery cam in coordination with state’s departments for extending loans.

Addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat, Agartala on Monday afternoon, Secretary of Finance department, Apurba Roy said that on Monday a special meeting of State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary J K Sinha in connection with the recent unprecedented floods occurred in the state.

He said that in the meeting in presence secretaries of different line departments, general manager of SLBC, GM of RBI, Agartala GM of NABARD and other bank authorities and has decided bank will extend relief measure based on the extend of crop loss affected which will include restructuring of existing loan except those which are overdue at the time of occurrence of natural calamity and existing term loan installments shall be rescheduled keeping in view the repaying capacity of the borrower.

Roy said that loans granted for allied activities, loans to rural artisans, traders, micro, small industrial unit or medium enterprises will also be restricted in the same manner and banks will also extend credit facilities under PMAY (Rural & Urban), education, housing etc.

The directors and secretaries of different departments of the state government have also presented losses incurred during devastating floods in front of bank officials  and urged bankers to provide loans under Kisan Credit Card (KCC) by organizing special camps specially in flood affected areas on priority basis.
