In an energetic start to the day, the Agartala Postal Division, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Agartala Cycloholics Foundation, successfully organized the ‘SundayOnCycle’ rally this morning under the Fit India Mission.
The rally, which commenced at 6:30 AM from the Agartala Head Post Office, was jointly flagged off by Mr. Manik Lal Das, Superintendent of Post Offices, Agartala Postal Division, and an official from SAI. Covering prominent locations including Dhaleswar Sub Post Office, Durjayanagar Branch Post Office, and Agartala Aerodrome Sub Post Office, the participants returned to the Head Post Office, completing the circuit.
The event highlighted the vital role of postmen in connecting communities while spreading awareness about fitness and sustainable living. Around 50–55 enthusiastic cyclists from the Agartala Cycloholics Foundation participated, along with several postal staff who also rode with the group, making the rally even more meaningful. Citizens from across the city also joined in to support the initiative.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Manik Lal Das said, “This rally is a tribute to the selfless service of postmen and a reminder to the community about the importance of fitness and cycling as a healthy, eco-friendly mode of transport.”
At the conclusion of the rally, all participating cyclists were felicitated with a token of appreciation comprising a trophy, certificate, and light refreshments. The gesture further reinforced the spirit of unity and community participation that the event aimed to promote.
The rally concluded on a high note, with participants pledging to continue adopting cycling and physical activities in their daily lives. With its strong message of unity, wellness, and sustainability, the ‘SundayOnCycle’ initiative received wide appreciation and is expected to inspire many more citizens in the coming weeks.
