TET-qualified job aspirants once again took to the streets on Saturday demanding recruitment. The candidates, who have been waiting for appointment for a long time, had announced a programme to gherao the Chief Minister’s residence to press for their demands.
However, before the programme could begin, police detained them in front of the Agartala Town Hall and took them to AD Nagar police line.
A large number of TET-qualified candidates began gathering in the area near Town Hall in Agartala in connection with their scheduled programme. The job aspirants said that despite having acquired the required qualifications, they have been waiting for recruitment for a long time. They alleged that although they have received repeated assurances, no permanent solution to the issue has been reached.
The candidates had planned to gherao the Chief Minister’s residence to draw the government’s attention to their demand for recruitment. Meanwhile, police detained them before they could proceed with the programme and took them to the police station. The incident created tension in the area.
The protesting candidates said that they do not want to create any disorder and that their primary demand is for the government to complete the recruitment process at the earliest and provide them with employment opportunities according to their qualifications.
The protesters expressed anger over their detention by the police and reiterated their demand for immediate recruitment.
The TET-qualified job aspirants are now waiting to see what steps the government takes in the coming days regarding their recruitment.
