Tribal voters rejected BJP in ADC elections, Tipra Motha wins by instigating communal sentiments, CPIM
The Tripura State Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) through a press statement after massive debacle in the Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections on Saturday has stated that a large section of voters in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections has rejected the ruling BJP.
As per the state issued by opposition CPI (M) said that it has been reflected in the public anger against what they described as corruption-ridden governance and anti-people policies, as well as attempts to undermine democratic rights.
The statement said that although the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) has secured victory based on numbers, the election results do not reflect any improvement in administrative functioning or economic conditions in the tribal areas over the past five years. CPI(M) alleged that widespread corruption, lack of employment opportunities, poor road infrastructure, and inadequate education and healthcare services have failed to reflect in the ADC elections and they have also claimed that these issues have fueled public resentment, which was reflected in the voting pattern.
CPI(M) further alleged that the BJP attempted to influence the election through money power and inducements but did not succeed. It also accused Tipra Motha of trying to impact voters through financial means.
The party admitted that it could not increase its vote share and emphasized the need for proper self-criticism to identify weaknesses. It stressed the importance of strengthening the organization by learning from the election experience and intensifying movements on issues affecting people’s livelihoods.
The statement also expressed gratitude to voters who supported the Left Front despite intimidation and provocations during the elections. They appealed to all sections of society to maintain peace and harmony across the state.
