Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha arrived in Bhopal on Thursday to attend the 28th AOMSI Mid-Term Convention and the 14th AOMSI Postgraduate Convention (MIDCOMS 2026), where he is serving as the chief guest.

A renowned oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr Saha is participating in the three-day national conference that has brought together leading surgeons, researchers, academicians, and postgraduate students from across India and abroad.

Upon his arrival, Dr Saha was welcomed by Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla at his residence. The two leaders held discussions on healthcare and medical education before Dr. Saha joined the inaugural proceedings of the convention. His wife, Swapna Saha, also accompanied him.

Speaking on the occasion, Shukla said the convention would provide an important platform for surgeons, researchers, medical educators, and postgraduate students to exchange knowledge and gain insights into the latest advancements in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

"Dr Manik Saha is himself a distinguished oral and maxillofacial surgeon. His presence at this national convention will inspire young medical professionals and further strengthen academic exchange in the field. Such platforms are essential for promoting innovation and enhancing the quality of healthcare services," Shukla said.

The convention is being jointly organized by the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI), the Madhya Pradesh State Chapter, and People's University, Bhopal, from July 2 to 4.

Held under the theme "Creating a Wholesome Surgeon," the conference will feature scientific sessions on advanced surgical techniques, complex clinical procedures, emerging trends in medical education, and the latest research in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Experts from India and overseas will present research papers, conduct workshops, and demonstrate innovative surgical practices aimed at improving patient care. The event also seeks to promote collaboration among specialists, strengthen academic networks, and expose postgraduate students to evolving global standards in the specialty.

Organisers said the participation of senior surgeons and academicians would help bridge the gap between research and clinical practice while encouraging the adoption of modern surgical techniques across healthcare institutions.
