Tripura get best award among NE states for implementation of e-procurement system
In another significant achievement, Tripura got the best state award among all Northeastern states for proper implementation of the e-procurement system.
Giving details of this achievement of the state, Finance Minister Pranajit Sigha Roy addressing a press conference here at Civil Secretariat on Wednesday afternoon said that on March 27th last during a national workshop of e-procurement held at the India Habitat centre in New Delhi, Tripura received the best performing state for implementation of e-procurement among all Northeastern states.
He said that during the last five years, Tripura received many awards from the union government for successfully implementing different schemes and programmes. Tripura got the awards for ‘Soubaghya scheme’ of the power department for completion of construction works in stipulated time, similarly got awards for success in agriculture section empowerment of Panchayati Raj system.
He said that the state through e-procurement is working in different departments with total transparency and he also congratulated the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, former deputy chief minister Jishnu Dev Varma, secretary of the Finance department and other authorities of the department.
As part of the transparent policy, the state government has made it mandatory that any purchase of the government exceeding Rs. 25,000 under “Delegation of Finance Rules of Tripura”, must be purchase through e-procurement, said the minister and added that through e-procurement has bring transparency in government’s purchase or sale and has also bring zero harassment for traders.
He also said that the e-procurement system has given tremendous help to the small and medium traders for their trading with the government and have very less chances to dodge goods and service taxes .
Singha Roy added that through this system, traders from any part of the country can participate in the government purchase process and it also provides perfect rates.
He said that in the financial year 2022-23, through e-procurement portal, altogether 9815 tenders were floated with sum of Rs. 7,271 crore and through Government e Marketplace (GeM) , a total 3095 orders has been issued till December , 2022 with sum of Rs. 102 crore.
The bidding and tender prices through e-procurement and GeM has crossed amount of Rs. 7,373 crore in the financial year of 2022-23, said the minister and added that the state government received appreciation from Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) for all kind of expenditures of the state government except payment of pension for retired government employees. During the press meet, the secretary of Finance department Brijesh Pandey and additional secretary Akinchan Sarkar were also present.
