Tripura team become runners up in Assam Rifles women’s sentinels cup football

The second edition of the Women’s Sentinels Cup Football Tournament, organized by Assam Rifles, was held at Lokra from March 16 to 25. The finals took place at Laitkor on March 27, where the DGAR women’s team defeated the Tripura team with a score of 6-0 to claim the championship. Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, DGAR, graced the event with his presence and congratulated the winning team.
The tournament was inaugurated on March 16 by the Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur, who served as the Chief Guest. Teams from the Seven Sister States of Northeast India, along with the DGAR women’s football team, participated in the event. The knockout phase was conducted by the 30 Assam Rifles at Lokra.
Beyond the thrilling football matches, participants gained valuable insights into the Armed Forces, attended inspirational talks, and took part in empowerment initiatives. These included sessions on women’s and youth empowerment, skill development, and promoting health, fitness, and a sports culture.
The Sentinels Cup is an annual women’s football tournament organized by Assam Rifles to promote and uplift women’s football in the Northeast region.
