In the aftermath of devastating floods that have submerged large areas of the state, the power management infrastructure has suffered extensively, with numerous transformers going underwater and power lines severely damaged. The South District and Gomati have been the hardest hit, with extensive outages and infrastructure challenges impacting the region.

Despite the challenging conditions, officers, engineers, and staff of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) have been working around the clock to restore power. These dedicated teams have been navigating hazardous conditions—some traveling by boat, swimming, or maneuvering through floodwaters—to conduct essential repairs and keep electricity services functional.

A TSECL statement said that significant progress has been made in certain areas. In the South District, areas such as Rishyamukh, Haripur Bazar, and Nalua Bazar have seen partial restoration of electricity services. Power has also been maintained in several Bru statement camp's across the southern district, although administrative orders have necessitated temporary power shutoffs in some locations for safety reasons.

Despite these efforts, many areas remain severely affected. Floodwaters have kept the electricity crews from reaching Gabur Rama, Bahadur Para, Jai Hari Para, and Ratanpur. However, restoration has been possible in locations like Rishyamukh, Manirampur, and parts of Hapta Bari. The district hospital in Santirbazar has managed to keep its power supply uninterrupted.

In Gomati District, the situation remains critical with extensive flooding. Areas including Amarpur and Karbook sub-divisions are still submerged, preventing any restoration of services. Most of the transformers are under water. Even the transmission lines  have gone under water in many places. In this situation the engineers and  staff of TSECL are trying day and night but they are not able to normalize the electricity situation. Because vast areas of Amarpur including Malbasha, Rangamati, Chabimura, Notun Bazar, Dalak, Jatanbari, Sarbong are still under water. Similarly in Kakrabon along with some areas of Udaipur Sub Division, electricity service cannot be restored as the 33 KV line is under water.

In south Dist, the 33 KV line from Bagafa to Jolaibari has been severely damaged, with poles collapsing into the river and substation equipment submerged.

Efforts to restore power are ongoing, but challenges persist. The 33 KV line in Muharipur and Kwaifang remains underwater, and nine transformers are still submerged. Areas such as Betaga, Palpara, Baikhora Bazar, and East Charakbai have seen some restoration, but safety concerns have led TSECL to caution the public against approaching downed power lines or poles, which pose significant risks in the flood-affected regions.

TSECL has emphasized the importance of public safety and urges residents to avoid areas with electrical hazards. The power company is continuing its efforts to normalize electricity services, even as workers face considerable risks and operational difficulties in the inundated regions.
