A court in Tripura’s Khowai district has sentenced two Bangladeshi nationals to 145 days of simple imprisonment each after convicting them in a case under the Immigration and Foreigners Act.
According to a press release issued by the Tripura police, the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Court No. 2, Khowai, on Monday convicted Bhushan Chandra Das, son of Late Charan Das, and Mahamaya Rani Das, wife of Bhushan Chandra Das. Both are residents of Noagaon under Bamoi Post Office in Lakhai police station, Habiganj district of Bangladesh.
The court found the duo guilty under Section 21 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act in connection with PRC (WP) No. 44/2026, arising out of Teliamura GRPS Case No. 02/2026, registered on March 6, 2026 under Section 3 of the Passport (Entry into India) Act and Sections 14(a) and 14(c) of the Foreigners Act. Following the conviction, the court sentenced both accused to 145 days of simple imprisonment.
The case was investigated by Sub-Inspector (SI) Mangal Debbarma of Teliamura Government Railway Police Station (GRPS), who submitted the charge sheet on May 4, 2026. After examining the evidence, the trial court held the accused guilty and awarded the sentence accordingly.
