Two killed, 12 injured in road mishap while returning from Tipra-Motha campaign rally at Hezamara
In a tragic road accident due to reckless driving and slippery road, two people died on the spot and around 10 to 12 people were injured while returning from an election campaign rally in Hezamara area of West Tripura district under the 13 Simna–Tamakaari constituency of the ADC elections.
The rally had been organized in support of Tipra Motha candidate and Executive Member (EM) Rabindra Debbarma. According to reports, the vehicle carrying the supporters met with an accident on their way back from the procession.
After the road mishap, local villagers along with police and firefighters shifted all injured persons to Hezamara Primary Health Centre, where a visiting doctor declared two among all injured dead, identified as Upendra Debbarma and Sumita Debbarma.
Later, all remaining injured persons around 10 to 12 were shifted to the Trauma center at GB Hospital in critical conditions.
While, speaking with media persons at GB Hospital, Tipra-Motha candidate Rabindra Debbarma said that it’s a very tragic incident and they lost two of their active supporters.
He said that as per preliminary information, the driver of the Jeep was in an intoxicated condition and after the election meeting, the driver of the jeep with packed Tipra-Motha supporters was moving to their destination at heavy speed on slippery road due to rain.
Suddenly, the driver of the jeep lost his control and fell in a roadside ditch, as a result two people died on the spot and 12 more sustained critical injuries.
