Two youths held with Ganja during vehicle check at Baijalbari Naka point

Two youths were arrested with around 10 kg of Ganja (cannabis) during a vehicle checking drive at the Belfang Naka Point in Baijalbari under Khowai district, on Wednesday, police said.

While it was not immediately clear whether the operation was carried out on the basis of specific intelligence or as part of a routine vehicle checking drive, police intercepted the two youths at the Naka point and conducted a search after finding their movements suspicious.

During the search, police recovered approximately 10 kg of Ganja from their possession. Both accused were immediately taken into custody and brought to the Baijalbari police station for further investigation.

Police said they are investigating the source of the contraband, its intended destination, and whether any other individuals are involved in the smuggling racket.

The seizure has created a stir in the area, and a detailed investigation is underway. Police have initiated legal proceedings against the two accused under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
