Wanted drug smuggler arrested by East Agartala Police
After a prolonged search, police arrested a most-wanted drug smuggler from the Motorstand area in the city on the midnight of Holi.
Providing details, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of East Agartala Police Station, Subrata Debnath, said that the accused, identified as Raja Saha, had been actively involved in smuggling heroin and Yaba tablets and was wanted in two cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The cases were registered at Amtali Police Station and East Agartala Police Station, and the accused had been absconding for several months.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted an operation and managed to arrest him from the Motorstand area near the Shani temple around midnight on Wednesday.
Police produced the accused before a local court on Thursday, seeking police remand in connection with the case registered under the NDPS Act, 1985, for further interrogation.
