Antony Blinken meets Xi Jinping during his ongoing China visit
Beijing: Visiting US State Secretary Antony Blinken on Monday met Chinese President Xi Jinping, marking a moment of highlight in his two-day visit to China.
Blinken visited China amid months of deteriorating relationship between the two countries.
This was the first visit of a US top official to China in the past five years.
Xi said that Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang described their talks with Secretary Blinken as candid and in-depth, reports Xinhua.
"The Chinese side has made its position clear, and the two sides have agreed to follow through on the common understandings President Biden and I reached in Bali," Xi was quoted as saying by Xinhua, adding that the two sides also made progress and reached agreement on some specific issues.
