British man puts fake pair of legs in large pothole to highlight problem of his village

A British man tried a humorous way to highlight the plight of his village by placing a pair of fake legs in a large pothole created in his area.

It is one of several that have formed on Haverhill Road in the Cambridgeshire village of Castle Camps, close to the Suffolk border, reported BBC.

James Coxall said the pothole has existed for the past eight months.

However, it is not located on a busy road.

Now responding to his unique protest, Cambridgeshire County Council said one of its highways officers would inspect the road and "repairs will be made as required".

Coxall, a 41-year-old carpenter, told BBC that the pothole had been there for a long time, so his family decided to "have a bit of fun with it".

"The shoes were going to charity anyway, so we thought we'd give them an outing first," Coxall told BBC.

"We stuffed the jeans with old rags and I used some wood to keep the legs sturdy and upright," Coxall said.

Coxall posted the image of the pair of legs, fixed on the pothole, on a Facebook page named Odd Things Around Cambridge.

"It's just a bit of fun, and I've had lots of messages about it," he told BBC.
