Christian man chained, tortured in Pakistan for allegedly delaying garbage collection
In a shocking viral video, a Christian man was caught on camera chained and brutally beaten up in Pakistan's Lahore city over delayed garbage collection, an episode once again highlighting the dismal state of minorities in the country.
The victim was identified as 35-year-old Christian sanitation worker Yasir Masih.
Hussain Masih, father-in-law of Yasir Masih, said he found the 35-year-old sanitation worker in the Gujjarpura area of Lahore chained to a chair in the street, reported ANI.
Hussain Masih was quoted as saying by the Indian news agency that Yasir was attacked by Muhammad Khadim Hussain, his son, and three others for not immediately complying with their demand to collect garbage and sweep their doorstep.
Yasir had promised to fulfill the request after completing his official duties of cleaning streets. However, upon visiting their house, he was directed to clean the roof, where he was subsequently assaulted with iron rods, punches, and kicks before being chained, the news agency reported.
The victim managed to escape despite being chained.
Demanding justice, his family members protested at the Lahore Press Club.
Police have arrested Malik Hussain and two others.
