Colombia: Presidential candidate Miguel Uribe shot during rally
Colombian Senator Miguel Uribe, a potential presidential contender, is currently struggling for his life at a hospital after he was shot three times in Bogota on Saturday.
39-year-old Miguel Uribe was shot when he was addressing a small crowd at a park in the city.

According to reports, a 15-year-old suspect has been arrested at the scene.
Uribe's wife, Maria Claudia Tarazona, has asked the nation to pray for his survival.
"Miguel is currently fighting for his life. Let us ask God to guide the hands of the doctors who are treating him," she was quoted as saying by BBC.
Several videos have now gone viral online showing the exact moment when the politician was attacked.
The government of left wing President Gustavo Petro said it "categorically and forcefully" condemned the attack as an "act of violence not only against his person, but also against democracy", reported BBC.
Marco Rubio Condemns
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has condemned the attempted assassination of Senator Miguel Uribe.
He wrote on X: "This is a direct threat to democracy and the result of the violent leftist rhetoric coming from the highest levels of the Colombian government."

He said: "Having seen firsthand Colombia’s progress over the past few decades to consolidate security and democracy, it can’t afford to go back to dark days of political violence. President Petro needs to dial back the inflammatory rhetoric and protect Colombian officials."
He said, "We stand in prayer with Miguel’s family, loved ones, and his supporters. Those responsible for this attack must face justice."
Who is Miguel Uribe?
A conservative right-wing critic of incumbent president Gustavo Petro, Miguel Uribe is a pre-candidate in the 2026 Colombian presidential election.
His mother was the prominent journalist Diana Turbay.
She was kidnapped in 1990 by an armed group under the command of the late cartel leader Pablo Escobar.
She was killed in 1991 during a rescue operation.
