Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy to lead DOGE, announces Donald Trump
US President-elect Donal Trump has announced tech billionaire Elon Musk and Indian-origin Vivek Ramaswamy will lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Describing Musk as 'great', Trump said the entrepreneur will work in conjunction with 'American Patriot' Vivek Ramaswamy to the department.
"Together these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies- essential to 'Save America' movement," read a statement issued by Trump.
"I look forward to Elon and Vivek making changes to the Federal Bureaucracy with an eye on efficiency and, at the same time, making life better for all Americans," Trump said.
He said he hoped these two persons would drive out the "massive waste and fraud" from the government.
Trump said their work will end on July 4, 2026.
Following his appointment, Musk wrote on X: "All actions of the Department of Government Efficiency will be posted online for maximum transparency."
"Anytime the public thinks we are cutting something important or not cutting something wasteful, just let us know!" he said.
