Go find another sucker nation: Donald Trump warns BRICS countries against replacing dollar for international trade
Washington DC/IBNS: US President Donald Trump Friday issued a warning to BRICS nations, threatening them with 100 percent tariffs on their exports if they attempt to replace the US dollar as the dominant currency in international trade.
He said the US administration would require a commitment from the BRICS countries that they will not replace dollars for a new currency.
"The idea that the BRICS Countries are trying to move away from the Dollar, while we stand by and watch, is OVER. We are going to require a commitment from these seemingly hostile Countries that they will neither create a new BRICS Currency, nor back any other Currency to replace the mighty U.S. Dollar or, they will face 100% Tariffs, and should expect to say goodbye to selling into the wonderful U.S. Economy," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
"They can go find another sucker Nation. There is no chance that BRICS will replace the U.S. Dollar in International Trade, or anywhere else, and any Country that tries should say hello to Tariffs, and goodbye to America!" he said.
This is not the first time Trump has voiced his opinion on this matter.
On Dec 1 even before his inauguration, he issued a stern warning to BRICS nations, demanding they commit not to create or support a new currency to replace the US dollar or risk facing 100% tariffs.
