According to a First Information Report (FIR) registered by the Chenab Nagar police, the incident took place at around 9 p.m. when three volunteers were performing security duties outside the Al Aqsa place of worship, Dawn reported.

Police told the newspaper that a bearded young man riding a motorcycle stopped near the entrance of the worship site, pulled out a pistol and opened fire on the volunteers before fleeing the scene.

The injured individuals were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities said the condition of one of the victims remains critical.

Following the attack, Chenab Nagar Police registered a case against an unidentified suspect under Section 324 (attempted murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7(1)(c) of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

According to reports, Ahmadiyya community spokesperson Amir Mahmood condemned the shooting and called for those responsible to be brought to justice.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to identify and apprehend the assailant.
