Jet crashes at Dhaka school: Another victim dies in hospital
A 14-year-old, who was injured after a Bangladeshi fighter jet plane crashed at a school in Dhaka last Monday, died at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, media reports said.
The deceased person was identified as Shaheel Faravi Ayan.
He had sustained 40 percent burn injuries in the incident.
Ayan breathed his last at the hospital around 1:45am, Shaon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon of the institute, told Dhaka Tribune.
According to reports, 33 people had died in the aviation tragedy till Sunday.
A fighter jet crashed into the Milestone School and College in Uttara on July 21, marking one of the major aviation tragedies in the country in recent times.
The team of Indian doctors and nurses, who are currently visiting Bangladesh, have started treating patients who suffered burn injuries during a recent fighter jet mishap in the country.
The team arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday.
"The Indian medical team members have met with the doctors in Dhaka. They have seen the patients. They are continuing their activities", an official of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, told ANI.
"The specialised team consists of Doctors and nurses from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, which are the two top hospitals in India specialising in burn and plastic surgery", he added.
Bangladeshi nationals have appreciated India's gestures of sending medical experts to the country.
Sharing India's decision to send burn experts to Bangladesh, the Ministry of External Affairs earlier said in a statement: "A team of burn-specialist Doctors and Nurses with necessary medical support are scheduled to visit Dhaka shortly to treat the victims. "
"They will make an assessment of the condition of patients with recommendation for further treatment and specialised care in India as necessary," it said.
