Marco Rubio claims US keeps an eye on India and Pakistan every single day

US Secretary General Marco Rubio has said his nation keeps an eye on what is happening between India and Pakistan every single day, once again claiming the role played by the President Donald Trump-led administration in reaching a ceasefire in May.

Speaking to a news channel, Rubio said the ceasefire can fall apart very quickly.

'Ceasefire has to be maintained, which is very difficult. The U.S keeps an eye on what is happening between India and Pakistan every single day,' says Marco Rubio on NBC.

India has maintained that the conflict with Pakistan ended in May after Islamabad sought a ceasefire after suffering heavy damage.

Speaking to NBC News, Rubio said: "One of the complications of ceasefires is maintaining them, which is very difficult."

"Every single day, we are keeping an eye on what is happening between Pakistan and India," he said.

He remarked days after Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir triggered a controversy during his US visit when he said that his country would defend its water rights "at all costs" if India proceeds with dam construction on the Indus River.

Munir said that Islamabad would not hesitate to plunge the region into nuclear conflict if the country faces an existential threat in a future war with New Delhi.

"We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we'll take half the world down with us," Munir said as quoted by NDTV.

Responding to Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir's nuke threat from the United States, India had said "nuclear sabre-rattling" is Islamabad's "stock-in-trade".

Condemning Munir's remarks, India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said it "won't give in to nuclear blackmail".
