New York: Grand Indian baraat brings Wall Street to a standstill
New York's busy Wall Street witnessed the colourful taste of a grand Indian wedding when Varun Navani and Amanda Soll stopped traffic on the busy area in the city with their extravagant 'baraat' (marriage procession).
With 400 people, all dressed in Indian traditional attire, could be seen dancing on the professional corner of New York with DJ beats and music leaving the avenue buzzing.
DJ AJ wrote on Instagram sharing a video of the grand event: "Brought the heart of India 🇮🇳 to the wonderful Wall Street of New York City. "
He further said: "This Indian baraat unfolded with 400 guests dancing their way down the Wall Street, right outside the iconic venue, Cipriani."
Meet the bride and groom
The couple, who got married in the extravagant fashion and changed normal scene in New York for a day were identified as Varun Navani, CEO of enterprise AI platform Rolai, and Amanda Soll, a director of legal compliance and risk management, New York Post reported.
How much did the couple pay for the event?
According to city records viewed by The Post, the couple filed 28 permits for their big day, likely shelling out between $25,000 and $66,000 per location to shut down the Financial District.
