Pakistan: 11 dead after bus overturns on Makran coastal highway
A bus overturned in Pakistan which left at least 11 people dead and 35 others injured.
Police said the mishap occurred on the Makran coastal highway.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Lasbela Capt. Naveed Alam told Dawn News that the bus was carrying pilgrims from Iran to Punjab when it overturned near Buzzi Top as the driver lost control of the vehicle due to overspeeding.
Four passengers were still trapped inside the coach, and a crane has been called for to evacuate them, SSP Alam said.
Security forces rushed to the spot and are currently conducting rescue operation.
The bus was carrying around 60 passengers, Ali Hassan, one of the injured passengers who belongs to Gujranwala, told Dawn News.
Another bus crash leaves 25 dead
A bus, which was travelling from Kahuta to Rawalpindi, in Pakistan fell into a ditch leaving at least 25 people dead, media reports said.
“The accident was caused due to the coaster’s failed brakes,” Rescue 1122 Punjab official Usman Gujjar told Dawn News.
The bodies are currently being shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Kahuta, he said.
The victims of the crash included 20 men, four women and a child.
The cause of the crash is still not known.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbz Sharif have condoled the loss of lives in the tragedy.
