Pakistan: 28 die after bus falls into ravine in Balochistan
At least 28 people, including women and children, died after a bus fell into a ravine in Pakistan's Balochistan region on Wednesday.
The mishap reportedly left 22 others injured.
Speaking to Dawn News, Basima Assistant Commissioner (AC) Ismail Mengal said the accident occurred when a tyre of the vehicle got burst, which led to the bus crashing into a hill and then plunging into a ravine.
Mengal said three women and three children were also among the deceased.
He said the bus was probably carrying 45 to 50 passengers.
It was reportedly travelling from Turbat to Quetta overnight when the accident occurred.
The bodies of the deceased and the injured were rushed to Basima Civil Hospital.
Conditions of some of the injured passengers are said to be critical.
Those critically injured patients have been shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Khuzdar.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has consoled the loss of lives in the tragedy.
