Pakistan: Minorities participate in 'Rights March' in Karachi
A ‘Minority Rights March’ was organized by Pakistan Darawer Itehad on August 11 at Frere Hall, Karachi on the occasion of International Minority Day.
During the March, thousands of people from Hindu, Christian, Parsi and Muslim communities gathered.
The Chairman of Darawer Itehad, Shiva Kacchi demanded immediate notice from the government on the ongoing atrocities against the minorities communities through the following points:
Problem legislation should be done to solve the problem of abduction of minority girls and religious conversion.
Urgent restoration of Thar Express, removal of encroachment of temples, plots, cemeteries and religious places of minority communities.
Priya Kumari and all other hostages including children should be got released from the bandits.
Misuse of religious law should be stopped. Criminals should be punished by transparent investigation on religious matters and the innocent people imprisoned in jail should be freed.
There should be participation on the basis of equality in public and private institutions. Minority quota should be fully implemented.
Hateful and discriminatory behaviour should be stopped.
Bhagawad Geeta and Ramayana should be included in the educational curriculum.
There should be full freedom to worship and those who attack temples and churches should be severely punished. Full protection should be provided to temples and churches.
