Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif expresses willingness to talk with India to resolve disputes
Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif, who is currently touring Iran, on Monday expressed his willingness to talk with India to try to end the ongoing disputes between the two warring neighbours.
“We wanted peace, we want peace and we will work for peace in the region through talks on the table and resolve our outstanding issues, including the Kashmir problem, according to the resolutions passed by the [United Nations] Security Council … and even by Indian Lok Sabha (parliament) back in 1954,” Sharif was quoted as saying by Dawn News.
“We are ready to talk, for the sake of peace on water issues with our neighbour,” he continued.
“We are ready to talk to promote trade and also, counter-terrorism if they’re serious," he said.
“But if they choose to remain aggressors, then we shall defend our territory … like we have done a few days ago," Sharif said.
Indian Army Releases New Operation Sindoor Photos
The Indian Army has released a booklet for its personnel on Operation Sindoor, which shows Army, Navy, and Air Force chiefs in the 'Operations Room', monitoring the May 7 precision strikes on terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Two new pictures have been released showing Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Navy Chief Admiral DK Tripathi, Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and a senior Army officer in the war room.
The second picture shows General Dwivedi and the senior officer looking at a screen at 1:05 am, when Operation Sindoor began on May 7.
The two officers are looking at drone footage, satellite images, and getting real-time updates on the operation, in which Indian fighter jets with precision-guided bombs, SCALP cruise missiles, and drones struck nine targets, killing over 140 terrorists.
Operation Sindoor
Operation Sindoor was a fierce military operation launched by the Indian Air Force (IAF) on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 tourists who were enjoying their vacation at Baisaran Valley, which is referred to as India's Switzerland.
The operation was aimed at dismantling terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
After the Pakistan Army again targeted Indian civilians and resorted to cross-border firing, the Indian Armed Forces retaliated, destroying defence systems of the hostile neighbour. On May 10, both countries agreed to a ceasefire agreement after four days of escalation.
