Pakistan: Seven terrorists die during exchange of fire with security forces in KP
At least seven terrorists were killed and six injured during an exchange of fire with Pakistani security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chitral district on Saturday, media reports said on Monday.
The army troops effectively engaged terrorists' location and resultantly, “seven terrorists were killed while another six were critically injured,” read the statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The sanitisation of the area was being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area, the statement said.
Pakistan is witnessing a spike in terror attacks in regions like KP and Balochistan after outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its ceasefire with the government last year in November.
A report released in July by the think tank Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies said the first half of the current year witnessed a steady and alarming rise in terror and suicide attacks, claiming the lives of 389 people across the country, reports Dawn News.
