Volodymr Zelenskyy claims Ukraine hit by over 100 Russian missiles, drones
"Currently, across the country, efforts are underway to eliminate the consequences of the Russian strike. This was one of the largest attacks – a combined strike, involving over a hundred missiles of various types and around a hundred “Shaheds'," he wrote on X.
"Like most Russian strikes before, this one was equally insidious, targeting critical civilian infrastructure. The energy sector has sustained significant damage, but in every area affected by power outages, restoration work is already in progress," the President wrote.
He further said: "It is crucial that our partners uphold the commitments we’ve made together, in particular regarding air defence systems, missiles for them. And beyond that, we must finally unite in our efforts to shoot down Russian missiles and drones. Today, their targets were in Volyn, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, and Ternopil regions. Across Ukraine, we could do much more to protect lives if the aviation of our European neighbours operated in concert with our F-16s and air defence systems. If such unity has proven effective in the Middle East, it must work in Europe too. Life holds the same value everywhere."
According to Russian media reports, Moscow has targeted defence industry facilities in Ukraine.
An energy facility was hit in Odessa, Sergei Lebedev, coordinator of the pro-Russian Nikolayev underground, told Sputnik.
A large number of Kyiv residents shifted to subways amid Russian attacks.
The latest series of attacks took place just days after Indian PM Narendra Modi visited Ukraine and met Volodymr Zelensky.
During his meeting with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, PM Modi said India never took a neutral stance in the ongoing conflict with Russia but was always on the side of peace.
"However, we want to say that India was never neutral in its stance and from the very first day we were on the side of peace," he said during his discussion with the President.
Russia and Ukraine are engaged in a conflict for more than two years now.
