Bollywood actor Chrisann Pereira jailed in UAE; Mumbai Police arrest 2 for making her drug mule
Mumbai: The Mumbai Police have nabbed the actual perpetrators in a drug case that landed a Bollywood actor in a UAE jail, media reports said.
Chrisann Pereira has been lodged in the Sharjah Central Jail since April 1 for carrying a memento that had drugs hidden in it.
According to an NDTV report, police have arrested two men who had allegedly framed the actor for taking revenge for a fight over a dog. Both are residents of Mumbai.
Mumbai Crime Branch arrested Anthony Paul - a bakery owner and Rajesh Bobhate - an assistant general manager in a bank in connection with the case.
According to a preliminary investigation, Anthony and Chrisann live in the same building. Both Anthony and his sister had a fight over a dog with the actor’s mother on different occasions.
Police suspect that the actor was allegedly made a drug mule as part of the revenge game.
Anthony approached Chrisann through Rajesh, who posed as a talent consultant and told her about an audition for a web series in Sharjah.
The accused gave her a memento in which he had hidden ganja and poppy seeds. He told her that the memento was an audition prop.
Not only that, he gave her a fake return ticket from Sharjah.
As soon as she landed, he informed the Sharjah airport.
However, Chrisann is not the person Rajesh and Anthony have trapped this way.
Allegedly, the duo has also framed a DJ - Clayton Rodriguez - by offering him a cake laced with drugs.
Both men have been sent to police custody till May 2.
Chrisann Pereira has acted in Bollywood films like 'Sadak-2' and 'Batla House'.
