BREAKING: CBI summons Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in cattle-smuggling case
West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress MP and party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) tomorrow for questioning in the cattle smuggling case, said media reports on Monday.
The CBI has reportedly sent notice to Abhishek Banerjee amid an interim stay in the Supreme Court. The CBI directed him to appear at Nizam Palace in Kolkata at 11 am tomorrow.
The Supreme Court earlier stayed a Calcutta High Court order asking the CBI and ED to also question Abhishek Banerjee in connection with Bengal school recruitment scam.
Trinamool leader and Birbhum district strongman Anubrata Mondal was arrested in July last year in the cattle smuggling case.
Details are awaited.
