New Delhi: Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik sat on a sit-in protest along with his supporters at a police station in New Delhi on Saturday following a tiff with the Delhi Police, media reports said.

This comes a day after Malik received a summons from CBI in connection with a Rs 300 cr bribery case.

Police said they questioned Malik as he was holding a meeting at a park in Delhi’s RK Puram without taking permission, the report said.

According to the police, a few farmer leaders from Haryana had arrived in the national capital to support Satya Pal Malik, and food was provided to them without obtaining prior permission from the police.

Delhi Police took to Twitter to clarify its action and added that Satya Pal Malik was not detained.

"False information is being spread on social media handles regarding detention of Sh. Satyapal Malik, Ex. Gov. Whereas, he himself has arrived at P.S. R K Puram along with his supporters. He has been informed that he is at liberty to leave at his own will," (sic), the Delhi Police said.

On Friday, Satya Pal Malik had said that he may have been called by the CBI as he exposed the sins of some people by speaking the truth.

Nearly a week ago, Malik made critical remarks about the BJP-led Centre in an interview with The Wire, particularly its management of Jammu and Kashmir where he served as the final governor before the region was split into Union territories.
