CM affirms commitment to girl child education, empowerment
Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha has said that the current state government is committed to educating and empowering every girl child in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chief Minister Dr Saha said this during a girl child felicitation program organized by the West Tripura district administration and the Social Welfare & Social Education department, in collaboration with ward no-39 of AMC under the scheme "MUSKAAN" (Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao).
“The Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme, announced by Prime Minister Modi, is a very important initiative. A society can be developed with our girls. In this context, PM Modi has emphasized Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, and making girls self-reliant. Girls are excelling in various sectors, including sports and education. In line with PM Modi's vision, we are committed to educating and empowering every girl child,” said Dr. Saha.
He highlighted that the state government has also enlisted girls in the Tripura State Rifles.
“A house can't be beautiful without a girl. Girls play a key role in developing society. Even in the medical field, the number of girls is high. Our state government has distributed bicycles and has also decided to provide scooty to girl students. We have kept a 33% reservation for girls in jobs. Our double-engine government believes in actions, not just slogans,” he added.
Dr. Saha emphasized that considering girls as weak would be incorrect.
“We had 4000 Self Help Groups run by women, and now we have over 50,000 SHGs across the state. To support them, we are providing financial benefits. PM Modi always emphasizes working for the last person in society, and our state government is doing the same. Our girls have immense potential,” he concluded.
During the program, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, West District Magistrate Vishal Kumar, and others were present.
